PURE Yoga Student April 2017-

A member, Leonardo, called to say very sweet things about Donna Davidge. He took her class on Monday night at 7:45 (sub for Dana Slamp). He loved that she was mature and advanced in a subtle way, there was a sense of calm about her and she wasn't arrogant in her teaching. He felt that it spoke to all levels but the class was still extremely challenging.

Donna/Amrita truly is what her name implies..the Amrita..the nectar from the divine..the first step to reaching enlightenment. She was my first kundalini teacher two decades ago and I credit her for igniting the spark in me to fulfill my divine destiny as a teacher myself. Her gift is that she transmits the information so beautifully without ego and really encourages all her students to go deeper to their own wisdom. Sat Nam Amrita, may the nectar of divine always be with you.

Donna is an amazing teacher!  Whether you are a beginner or experienced yoga student, Donna's unique ability to nurture, motivate, and share her extensive yoga knowledge with a dose of humor makes her classes a rewarding experience. I am a devoted Donna fan!

I have followed Donna since 1994, from New York Sports Club in Tribeca, to Kundalini East in the Village, to Sewall House in Maine. I am constantly challenged when I am under your wing. Donna's positive energy is inspiring and she is a role model in every way. I feel so fortunate to have her in my life. They say that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. I am honored to have her as my teacher. I must have done something very right in my past life to deserve such a blessing!

I have been a student of Donna (Amrita) Davidge since 2007 when I first visited her retreat in Northern Maine. At that time I was just beginning to practice yoga again after a long hiatus due to a back injury. During those first few classes with Donna I was amazed that I could experience the joy of yoga again and that my back pain was decreasing with each class. Since then, I've continued studying with Donna in Maine, and on occasion in New York. Over the years, I have been grateful to have her as a teacher. Her knowledge of yoga is vast and balanced. She has a deep awareness of the body mechanics applied to yoga and is also very attuned to the energetic principles that govern the human body. In addition, she has been incredibly insightful and supportive as my practice has grown and my life has changed over the years. Since becoming her student, I've switched careers, become a yoga teacher, and faced other personal and professional challenges. She has always offered her support lovingly and with great care. As her student, you never feel far from her heart.

I have practiced for many years in a somewhat haphazard fashion.  When I came upon Donna's Sunday evening Kundalini class, it became a priority in my week.  I have been a regular student there for several years now.  Donna's teaching is sublime.  She calmly invites the student to challenge himself.  The challenge is to be in that place of  accepting where one is, willing to push past the comfort zone, and mindful of not too far.  The class, like Donna, flows with grace and gentleness, light and love.  www.LesterThomasShane.com

The first time I met  Donna Davidge (Amrita) she was teaching a Kundalini yoga class at my healthclub.  What a revelation that 45 minutes was!  I went to the class recovering from a serious illness, many surgeries, and other heartaches.  I left, tearful, but transformed.  She suggested that I attend a 90 minute class she was teaching at Golden Bridge, the rest, as they say, is history.  Donna/Amrita's relaxed and straightforward manner clarifies the mysteries of Kundalini practice.   Thanks to Donna/Amrita and her passion for teaching, I have a strong and focussed daily practice.  Wisdom in a teacher is rare and only is gained through the years.  Donna/Amrita is truly wise.

Donna's class is not only a great workout physically and mentally, but she makes people of all backgrounds and abilities feel welcome and safe in her sanctuary, while having fun at the same time.

The natural light within her that she brings into every studio, room or yoga center ignites positive energy throughout my body each and every time I have been to one of her Kundalini classes. She is a gentle, kind instructor who teaches us about life while we sometimes struggle with the challenges of Kundalini. I notice the new students running up to her after class because they too have felt that powerfully positive energy. I've felt happy, sad, frustrated, angry and even sometimes scared during a Kundalini class when my focus is internalized and the practice is bringing me into unknown territory.  The greatest part of that is that no matter what I always feel safe because she creates a nonjudgmental, loving environment in her classes. I can go on and on about the positive traits and abilities of my very experienced yoga teacher but I truly feel one needs to take a class with her or spend a weekend at her retreat to feel what I'm feeling.

Donna is the best Yoga teacher I have ever had. Her approach to teaching Kundalini Yoga been inspirational to my creative work and life. I loved my time at her Yoga retreat – Sewall House – in Maine and cannot wait to go back.

Marja [Hatha Student] (New York City, NY)

I first began my yoga practice with Donna as my instructor over five years ago. Through Donna's teaching not only did I receive a great foundation for beginning my practice, but also the constant reminder that, though sometimes serious, yoga should also be joyful. From observing and growing comfortable in her classes, I began to understand how to form a well-rounded practice, and how the simplest postures - and the more advanced ones - are all connected. Donna makes sure her students have a strong foundation in basic asanas, but does not shy from offering poses that challenge and deepen the practice. To this day I still hear Donna in my ear reminding me to breathe deeply, and "hug the muscle to the bone"!

Just received this Nov 28, 2012 and would like to share! Gregory made my day:) In gratitude., Donna/Amrita

Donna, I just want to let you know that I have closed my business in NYC so only infrequently come into town now. That's the reason I didn't sign up for the Open Center series. You really are a fabulous teacher. NEVER RETIRE!

With much love,

Donna is the real deal, she brings a wealth of knowledge and passion into her practice. She radiates warm and she takes the time to make sure that you truly understand the pose from a physical and metaphysical view point. If you ever get a chance to go to Sewall house her Yoga place in Maine you will not be disappointed. You will have a true yogic experience and still feel like you are on vacation- Amazing food! Like many of Donna's students, I have been practicing Kundalini with her teaching for many years. She brings grace and care to each class. The energy is supportive, encouraging, and with her guidance I have grown in so many ways in the work and my ability to "keep up". I recommend her teaching without reservation.
